I began my career as a therapist in 2001 with a mission to help people find greater happiness and self-fulfillment. Over time I discovered a passion for helping marriages and relationships thrive, increasing family harmony and stability, and helping individuals experiencing difficulty maintaining and overcoming stressful relationships.
My Professional Journey
I received my BA from California State University and my MSW in clinical social work from Arizona State University in 2001. Soon thereafter my wife and I moved to Baltimore where I began practicing psychotherapy. Following several years of practice, I recognized that my greatest clinical interest and passion was in working with couples as well as individuals experiencing a wide range of relationship concerns. In 2008 I established my own private practice, Maryland Couples Counseling, and since that time I have treated over 1000 couples and families.
My Training and Approach
My practice draws on a variety of treatment modalities, including CBT, Imago, Emotionally Focused Interventions, and Gottman methods. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Most importantly, however, it has been the many clients who I have had the honor and privilege of working with over the years, and who have shared their life ups and downs with me, from whom I have grown the most as a clinician. My task has always been to develop a tailored plan I believe would most speedily help each client grow and achieve their relationship goals.
